Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long will my horse be at Flex Horse Training for?
A: Each horse is an individual and we don’t have one set program to suit all horses. Generally David likes to keep the breakers for a minimum of eight weeks training and prefers to train at the individual horses pace rather than a limited amount of time.

Q: Can I visit my horse while he is at Flex Horse Training?
A: We understand that some owners miss their horses or want to be involved in the process so owners are more than welcome to visit their horse and view their progress under saddle, by appointment. Alternatively we are able to email photos or video footage as required.

Q: How many horses are in training at Flex Horse Training?
A: Only a limited number of horses are taken on at any one time to ensure David has enough time to dedicate attention to each horse. We aim for quality over quantity!

Q: How often will my horse be ridden?
A: Training is based on a minimum of five sessions per week. If David is unable to catch up on missed rides due to excessive rain or other commitments, then reduced agistment rates will apply for that period.

Q: My show horse requires numerous heavy rugs and has a very specific diet with lots of additives, are you able to keep him on his strict feeding and rugging regime?
A: We are able to accommodate show horses who require heavy rugging or stabling under lights and any special additional feed requirements can be catered for, at cost. Please clearly label any rugs, feed or gear to be left with your horse.

Q: My horse has never been shod before; can Flex Horse Training arrange this service for me?
A: We are able to have your horse shod on site by our experienced Farrier, Troy Thomson, at cost.

Q: My horse has never had it’s teeth done, is this an issue?
A: It is recommended that horses have their teeth checked by an Equine Dentist during their two year old year and it is preferable that they are treated before we begin the mouthing process. Our professional Equine Dentist, Jill Fenn can provide this service, at cost. Eliminating any issues with their teeth will make the process much safer for your horse.

Q: Should I worm my horse before I bring him to Flex Horse Training?
A: To reduce the risk of disease we require all horses to be vaccinated before arrival. Worming upon arrival at Flex is mandatory to reduce the spread of parasites, we use Equitak Excel as a quarantine drench as it contains a triple action of Abamectin, Praziquantel and Oxfendazole to ensure even mectin resistant strains are eliminated upon entry. All horses are kept in individual yards/paddock to reduce cross contamination.

Please contact David to discuss how we can accommodate
your two year old!
